Heather McGinley (b.1982), critically acclaimed American dancer,
is an artist living in New York City. She holds a Bachelor of Fine
Arts with honors in dance performance from Butler University. Her
dance career included extensive performing of works by Martha
Graham and Paul Taylor in both New York and worldwide. She
participated in the creative processes of choreographers Doug
Varone, Pam Tanowitz, Bryan Arias, Kyle Abraham, and Paul Taylor,
among others. Across her thirteen years with the Martha Graham
Dance Company and the Paul Taylor Dance Company, McGinley was
surrounded by the designs of monumental artists such as Robert
Rauschenberg, Osamu Naguchi, Alex Katz, Jennifer Tipton, and Santo
Loquasto. In 2018, while still in her stage performance days, a
lifelong interest in drawing began to deepen and became an
important creative outlet following the death of Paul Taylor later
that year. Her medium and support choice of oil pastel on paper
became exclusive. Her work is now entirely nonrepresentational.
